Babywearers, ACTIVATE!
Please, read about the current lead in toy/all childrens products regulations and how this WILL affect every baby carrier business you shop from INCLUDING the mamas at craft fairs, on ebay, from home, etc.
This will affect kids clothes on etsy, ebay, your local boutiques, those of you who sell the occasional diaper, legging, toy... read and be aware/prepared!

Is this YOU??? Did you win???
I got this email today. Please let me know if it was you (email me through this site) and I'll get you in touch with your PRIZE!!!
I need a little help from you guys. We just finished up a contest on togetherbe.com giving away a Peekaru and a lady from Idaho Falls was selected as the winner. The problem is she didn't leave a valid email! Her name is Jennifer Smith, she's from Idaho Falls, and my IT staff ( dh!! ) tells me she came to the site from idahobabywearers.blogspot.com.
Here's her post:
"I have always been heavy, but after the birth of my last baby, I found babywearing. I wore my baby doing everything including walking for exercise. Now she weighs almost 30# and is 2yrs old and I have lost 50#s. Now I use all my xl jackets to wrap us up in the cold idaho winters while we walk"
If that was your post please email me and I'll get you the info!
Thank you!
Brittany

Information on the sewing class
What you will need:
If you are making a pouch baby carrier:
1 1/2 yards of fleece
Thread that matches
A sewing machine
Scissors
If you are making a no sew wrap baby carrier
5 yards of fleece or micro fleece (micro fleece is less supportive, but easier to tie, you've been warned)
Scissors
You will learn how to make your carrier and how to use it safely!
About the instructor:
Kimber Tower is an internet taught babywearer. This year at the 2nd International Babywearing Conference in Chicago Kimber was an instructor for the Breastfeeding and Babywearing Class and Beginning ABC (asian baby carriers); along with judging the babywearing improv contest and modeling several kinds of carriers at the babywearing fashion show. Kimber was also the only person from Idaho who attends and hopes more Idahoans will attend the 2010 conference.
Kimber is the owner of Ball Baby Carriers LLC, a carrier company known worldwide for its' unique pattern, trendy prints and ease of use. Kimber's Ball Baby Pattern is available for free online as a gift to those who want to babywear but do not have the funds to purchase a baby carrier.
Kimber has been involved in the Idaho babywearing movement since it's inception. Her belief is that every baby wants to be worn, it is just up to the parent to find the right carrier for the baby/parent couple. Kimber loves to contribute to other's finding the babywearing love and hopes to see more families taking advantage of the benefits of babywearing locally.

Babywearing Week Updates!
We're getting close to the most wonderful time of the year...BABYWEARING WEEK! We're in the midst of getting everything pulled together for it and it's going right along! Check the side bar for what's in store. It will be updated often as things are finalized so be sure to watch it!
A few things (which will also be emailed out to those on our list):
MOST IMPORTANTLY:
If you have a carrier, PLEASE get it back to either Brittany, Kimber or Natalie so that we can inventory them, have them ready for Babywearing Week, and have a proper library up and running ASAP. This means ALL of them. Yes, the one that you borrowed. As soon as the library is ready we'll be lending them out for 2 weeks at a time so that there will be opportunity for everyone to try them. Thank you!
Also, if you feel like you can help during Babywearing Week we'll sure be able to use your help. If you can't then that is OK! Just spread the word about the activities. People don't have to have a baby to get involved. There will be many fun family events that we would like to have the community involved in with getting to know us! So invite all your friends and neighbors!
For those of you who have come to us asking to help, thank you! We'll be emailing you in the next couple of days with assignments. We really appreciate it!

The Article!

Mentioned in Rigby's local paper!
As I was glancing over the Jefferson Star on Wednesday, I noticed a very cool article written by Rebecca Squires about our visit before the Rigby City Council on proclaiming Baby Week in Rigby.
I'm going to give her a jingle soon to see if it's OK with her to publish the article on the blog (which she mentioned in her article, Yay!)
If you get a chance and are in Rigby, pick up a Jefferson Star and check it out!

Peekaru babywearing vest (I own and adore it!)
Japanese Weekend Mamacoat (I also own and adore it!)

Didymos mother child jacket

Here too
Psling down coat
Covers for just baby in a carrier

October Babywearing Meeting
We had our monthly meeting this morning at the Old Sugar Mill. We'll most likely be holding our meetings here through the winter. It's very generous of them to allow us to hold it there, we really appreciate it! We talked about wraps, tried out new ties and loved snuggling our babies. We also discussed some FUN ideas for next month's Babywearing Week. *more on that in another post* Next month's meeting will be on November 8th, 10am where we'll finalize plans for Babywearing Week. Hope to see you there!
